Langeoog in 9mm

…and somewhere is the sea…

I don’t know what you did today, I left Hamburg this morning on a heavy rain flooded highway and, after defrosting a fridge and shopping for some calories, had a great and sunny 14Km walk on the northwestern beach of the East Frisian island Langeoog.

I decided to leave all the gear at home and just give the new lens…toy…some…thing a try. Besides the fantastic weather, it was great fun to walk the Olympus 9mm f/8 fisheye thing. The build quality is… ok, it is build somehow and the handling is really easy. A fixed aperture of f/8 and only four distance settings to adjust sharpness:

1.) no light, no sharp
2.) no, not really…
3.) maybe
4.) somewhere over there

Olympus doesn’t sell it as a lens but some kind of accessory, as a lens cap. And overall it is just what I’ve expected. Not a serious lens but a great toy and it does exactly what one expects from a toy, just great fun when using it.

Todays soundtrack:

– The Black Crowes, Shake Your Money Maker
– The bitchy laughter of the f*cking gull after shitting on my coat
– Maná, Arde el Cielo
– the roar of the surf
– Rival Sons, Great Western Valkyrie
